Hello there! My name is Odette Yango, one of the vocalists in the band called, 'The Sweet Inspiration'. This is obviously our website so let me tell you some of my stories about singing.

First of all I want to let you know that most of my brothers and sisters are musicians and guess what? We are nine children of my parents. I am the seventh. When my father discovered that I could sing too or let's say I have a little voice, (I was five years old then), he started to practice me almost everyday. I won't forget the most difficult part of my life. I said that because instead that I can play with my playmates, I have to rehearse with him and this is the thing that I really hated. Everytime I made an error with the song that we're practicing, he would pinch my skin and would make me repeat the song from the beginning. So what always happened was, I was crying while I'm rehearsing with him. My father is always taking me to an amateur singing contest, and sometimes I get the 2nd price, but most of the time, I get the 1st price. That's why my father is getting crazier about my singing. He is so proud about me and he often taking me to his office, (he is a stenographer in Supreme Court) and letting me sing in front of his officemates. And his officemates one by one would give me money while they are requesting the songs that they like.

Now here is the main story of my singing. I started singing professionally when I joined 'The Sweet Inspiration Band' in 1988 which is my band until now. With them I experienced so many wonderful things about being a good musician and how to become a professional singer. How to practice a song in a right way.

The original S.I. Band is the four Abesamis brothers. I can say that these guys are gifted in music. With them I experienced to travel to different countries like Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, England, and we are now presently performing here in Landmark Hotel, Bangkok since 1992. S.I. band has some new members now. Noel Nicolas is our new keyboardist. We have also our new drummer. His name is Aljul Prado. And our new male vocalist is Chris Criste. They are wonderful musicians too. Then are not only wonderful musicians, they are nice people as well. That is why we are having a good time in our togetherness as a band.

I'm really enjoying my job as a singer specially while I'm seeing the audience that they are really enjoying with my songs. I'm being more inspired. One of my great inspirations is the audience in the pub. I wish God keeps lending me this voice. I hope you enjoyed reading my story.
